fittingly, the book reads like a play in at least three of the four segments | it's such a short, quick read and by the end i could finally appreciate the preceeding sections |

'A cup of tea, a sandwich, a little flirtation, and the music of a flute heard in hell, like clear drops of rain falling on a pile of garbage | i can see how some people would like this book but it just wan't my cup of tea |
I wanted to read another of this author's books after I read most of Palace Walk years ago.

, the edition I read was NOT the one I have chosen here on Goodreads, because mine is old and tattered and does not seem to exist in the database , I was more engaged with this book than The Thief and the Dogs or The Day the Leader Was Killed both good books too | For one thing, it's much more compact and intense, without the dreaminess I remember from several places in the trilogy |
